In 2018, LACF was pleased to award a grant to the Lanesboro school to help fund the Empty Bowls project. The project, organized by Stena Lieb, K-12 Art Teacher and Dana Norby, High School Special Education teacher, gave students and community members the opportunity to create handmade bowls for the event. The goal of the teachers was to create awareness among students to spread kindness.
Students took the initiative, with guidance from the teachers, to create, plan and promote the event. The students got very involved in the project by making soup, bread and treat for those who attended Empty Bowls. The students also worked at the event which taught them independence and responsibility. The project raised funds for the Fillmore County Food Shelf.
